Sand River Beach – The Bathtubs

The prominent sand bar across the river’s mouth is named Pinguisibi, which means “river of fine white sand”. The outcrops in the shoreline consist of large blocks of banded black and pink migmatite. Weathering has caused indentations big enough to sit in and have been nicknamed ‘the bathtubs”.
